The nostalgic people of the desert": the Mapuche question in Argentina and the stigma in the media

In recent months, a series of notes that have as a common denominator discrediting the pre-existence of the "Mapuche" indigenous people have been published in the Argentine media, speeches that take place in a context of growing territorial conflict. In this article, we propose to analyze the main arguments used by these journalistic notes and to account for the fallacies in anthropological terms in which they incur, considering that these readings resort to essentialist and biological explanations of identities.
