Emotions in public space : Actions to confront gender violence

Abstract

Gender-based violence, especially that which takes place within the framework of intimate relationships, worries and challenges those who investigate society and culture, while it is difficult to find answers about what is happening so that in the late modern world, in the In the context of an egalitarian progression in gender relations, this so-called "social scourge" continues to maintain its crudeness and question experts, politicians and citizens about what to do to combat it effectively. This text proposes to think about violence from a broad perspective that would allow to increase the understanding of the phenomenon and, consequently, to contribute to the design of public policies and of all kinds of awareness programs. Based on the extensive background provided by the new conceptual framework developed by gender studies, feminist theory and the sociology of emotions, this article reflects on the potential of certain artistic achievements to understand gender violence. From the work of Beth Moysés, a proposal for the analysis of the phenomenon of violence is presented within the framework of intimate relationships in which vulnerability and agency dialogue.
