Antinomies and analogies as transversal instruments in sociology: From Proudhon and Passeron

Abstract

The article proposes the notions of "antinomy", of "equilibrium between opposites" (Pierre-Joseph Proudhon), and of "analogy" (Ludwig Wittgenstein, Paul Ricœur and Jean-Claude Passeron), as well as some transversal instruments of sociology , in dialogue with the "knowledge game" of philosophy. Then, by means of these instruments, three dimensions present in the sociology "game of knowledge" are explored: the ontological, the epistemological and the theoretical. This reflective and prospective research is part of the current effort to reconstruct globalizing frameworks in the social sciences, different from the totalizing claims, but without yielding to the "postmodern" breakdown either.
