Nicaraguan Links Association: Migrant Women Exercising Citizenship in Costa Rica

Abstract

This article analyzes a series of interviews conducted between February and December 2017 with Nicaraguan migrant women who currently live in Costa Rica, in turn, these women are leaders of the Nicaraguan Links Association in the Río Azul community; The interviews were conducted in order to understand the main reasons why they decided to organize and form said association. The research concludes that the women interviewed exercise citizenship from Nicaraguan Links, regardless of their immigration status, since knowing and demanding their rights is key to survival.
