Health impact studies: from why to how

For more than half a century, it has been widely accepted that health goes far beyond the field of medicine and brings together social, economic, environmental, political and many other fields. Until recently, these considerations lacked operationality, but gradually, health impact studies are emerging as an effective way to act on these factors as health determinants. What is it, what can we expect from it?

It seems banal to consider that health “is global”. The definitions of the World Health Organization (WHO) have followed one another to confirm this: "Health is a complete state of physical, mental and social well-being and not only the absence of disease or infirmity", it is “… a basic human right and a global social goal”, and “… a resource of everyday life, not the goal of life. It is a positive concept emphasizing the importance of social and personal resources as well as physical capacities
