Abstract

This work summarizes the results of an applied, descriptive and prospective micro-investigation, carried out during the period 2013-2014 with the purpose of developing an action plan to increase the academic training and artistic sensitivity of graffiti practitioners in the City of Riobamba, Ecuador. The selected population was 23 graffiti artists in the city, based on which a non-probabilistic sample of 14 artists was obtained, predominantly between 15 and 25 years of age. Half of them have not received academic preparation, but the majority said they have the ability to channel feelings through graffiti that help them cope with the stresses of daily life. The opinion prevailed among them that the municipal authorities of the cultural sector do not provide support to this cultural manifestation, while the inhabitants of the city express themselves negatively with respect to graffiti, associating it with acts of vandalism and not recognizing the voice in it. Of the youngs. As a result of this mini-investigation, seven main actions were proposed to alleviate the existing situation and an exploratory workshop was held with positive results in this regard.
