Violence in inter-ethnic relations and racism in Mexico City

Veröffentlicht 2007-05-21

Abstract

This article analyzes the issue of violence and racism in light of the Indo-mestizo relations in Mexico. It starts from considering symbolic violence as a practice present in the cultural construction of the nation on which current representations that tend to criminalize indigenous people rest. For this, some aspects of violence, both symbolic and of another type, that emerge from inter-ethnic relations in Mexico City are presented.
