Veröffentlicht 2019-09-23

Abstract

This paper analyzes the role of support networks for two gay groups: one from Mexico City and the other from Barcelona. The article shows how the perspective on the growing access to an increasingly exclusive consumption, particularized and related to what is considered their lifestyle, has given these groups greater visibility and presence in contemporary social and cultural life, which It leads to an attribution of values and practices that place this population in a process of symbolic incorporation in which the gay is naturally akin to the values of consumerism. This discussion represents a part of the results of an ethnographic research on the identity and economic practices of the members of these groups
