Social movements and identity: the case of movements in Xoxocotla, Morelos
Abstract
What is presented below is part of an investigation that aims to explain the role that collective identity plays in the development of social movements in Xoxocotla, Morelos and to locate the cultural repercussions of these movements. The influence of social movements in the configuration of the collective identity of the Xocoltecos and the way in which it determines the type of participation of social actors is analyzed. For the development of this research, a qualitative methodology was used that allowed us to enter into the subjectivity of the study subjects in order to obtain the vision and symbolic construction that the social actors have of themselves, of the social movements and of the world that them surrounds.
