Transitory daily life: young Central American migrants in Tabasco and Chiapas, a story in images

Published 2019-09-23

Abstract

Based on a series of photographs taken and disseminated on the social networks of collectives and Hogares-Refugio between 2012 and 2016, this text discusses some aspects of the daily life of young Central American migrants as they pass through the southern border of Mexico . The discussion focuses on the contrasting attitudes that young people exhibit when they feel protected and accompanied either in the Refuge Homes or on the freight trains (La Bestia), with the aim of showing that, when possible, they make choices. that allow them to exercise some control over their immigration process. This can be seen, for example, in the Hogar-Refugio La 72, which promotes respect for sexual diversity, faced with which young people assume conflicting positions that demonstrate the will to take over their daily lives
